Step into Autumn - Research Forest
Location: Research Forest (driving directions sent to registrants closer to the date)
Dates: Tuesday, Sept 22nd
Time: 1- 3 PM
Guide: Larry Gray
Trail Description: A 2-hour leisure-level hike designed to allow you to socialize and take a leisurely pace. The Gunnar Nilsson Mickey Lammers Research Forest is one of Whitehorse's greatest resources for hiking (or biking or skiing). There is a diversity of landscapes to explore. We will begin on Lammers Loop (a mountain biking trail) and connect with the Forest Science Trail. These trails are easy walking through beautiful mixed forest (pine, spruce, aspen). The trails take us through the Yukon government's Agricultural Research station (interesting projects going on) and eventually to some large fields where horses are often grazing. After visiting with the horses, we go off trail to a little known beautiful lookout over the Takhini River. Then we return on a trail through a climate change research area. A really interesting and lovely hike!
Registration cost: $5
